The Shangri-Las

Undoubtedly the "punkiest girl group of the 60's" "THE SHANGRI-LAS" were formed by four young women from Queens, New York.
Due to the untimely death of one of the girls, they performed as a trio.

"THE SHANGRI-LAS" came to the attention of record producer Geogre "Shadow" Morton, who arranged for a contract with the newly formed RED BIRD label. Morton wrote and produced "Remember (Walkin In The Sand)" a record that quickley established the group by climbing to the number #5 spot on the national charts.

Morton then employed Ellie Greenwich and Jeff Barry to supply the follow up. Greenwich & Barry were already writing hits for "The Ronettes", The Crystals", "Lesley Gore", etc. Their contribution for the SHANGRI-LAS was "Leader Of The Pack" an instant classic that went right to number #1 on the charts and stayed there for many weeks. There hold on the american public continued with other follow up hits like "Give Him A Great Big Kiss", "Out In The Streets" and "I Can Never Go Home Again Anymore" just to name a few.

Today "THE SHANGRI-LAS" tour the country from las Vegas to Atlantic City and everywhere in between.

"THE SHANGRI-LAS" are, by far, one of the most exciting, talented and sexiest groups performing today.
